Does TV affect what we eat?

Well i don’t know if any of you saw the weight programme called Supersize vs Superskinny but I have to say it made disturbing watching.

The guy from Embarrasing bodies – Dr Christian was running a weight review programme whereby he took a supersized lady and a superskinny lady and basically they swap diets for about a week.

The hard part is that they have to be weighed in their underwear to start with (no sexy knickers here, it’s all skin toned and not in the least bit flattering.)

Then they meet each other – cue awkward silence, darting looks and false smiles. Then the real part starts, they pour in a week’s worth of their respective typical diets, and the larger lady eats the skinny lady’s diet and vice versa. I have never seen anyone look so ill before they started eating. The skinny lady – who was seriously underweight at about 2.5 stone under her healthy weight  ( very model anorexic type look) almost fainted at the evening meal which was laid out for her. She thought that the portion was for a week, then realised and the colour drained from her face that it was a single meal (it was amazingly huge, even by my standards and I’m sometime heavy with the portion control)

So I was going to finish watching the Tv then have a bowl of ice cream, but it has actually made me stop and think “Hang on” i don’t want to be either of these 2 extremes seen today on the TV, but i’m only being indulgent by having the ice cream so i’ll not bother!

So if has worked on a subliminal level to actually get me to try and think about portion control willpower and for once in my life , trying to be nothing more than average!
